Multiple SPF records: why it breaks and how to merge them

A domain must have exactly one TXT record starting with v=spf1. If a receiver finds two, SPF returns PermError and your mail can fail DMARC.

How it happens

Each new service tells you to "add this SPF record", so people add a second one instead of editing the first.

How to merge

Take every mechanism from both records and combine them into one record with a single all at the end:

Before:
v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com ~all
v=spf1 include:sendgrid.net ~all

After:
v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com include:sendgrid.net ~all

Then delete the extra record and recheck the 10-lookup limit. Our SPF generator builds a merged record for you.

Check your domain now. Our free checker grades DMARC, SPF, DKIM, MX, BIMI and MTA-STS in seconds.
